Description:

Large and dark. At close range, orange throat patch is visible. Juveniles have pale gray on the chest.

Habitat:

Shorelines of ocean, bays, rivers and lakes.

Notes:

Only North American cormorant commonly observed inland. We have three species on West Coast. Brandt's and Pelagic cormorants are strictly marine.
