AntLion Nest

Description:

Cone like depression in the ground designed to trap insects. It is a lot of fun to take a long, thin twig and insert it gently to just touch the side of the cone. The result is a less than a second emergence and retreat of the antlion.

Habitat:

In an area next to a vegetable garden. A good population of ants in the area.
