Description:

Migrating summer bird. (Non-breeding Male) Medium size songbird.
Medium length thick bill. Reddish/yellow head, yellow neck and chest down to under the tail. Back and wings are black with mottled look on back. One yellow and one white wing bars.

Habitat:

Mixed wood forest and open areas with dense trees.

Notes:

Spotted at a water fountain on a hot day

Do you know where Howe Homestead is on near Walnut Blvd? I spotted one out there too hiding from two Red-shouldered Hawks.
