Common Grackle

Quiscalus quiscula

Description:

The Common Grackle has a shinny blue head. The female has a shinny black head. Some Common Crackles have a shinny blue/black band which mixes with the head and the all black shinny body. The female makes a raspy call. It is 11 to 13.5 inches long with a wing span of 36-46 centimeters.

Habitat:

Croplands, towns, groves and beside streams.

Notes:

I was very lucky to see both the male and female Common Grackle on my walk. I noticed that the female was "yelling" at the male.
