This shrub had yellow bulbs with red bracts. The leaves are nearly heart shaped and smooth.
Spotted just outside a tropical rainforest.
Thanks so much, SargonR. I didn't know that! I will try scratching my name into a leaf next time I'm around.
We call them an autograph tree in Hawaii. People scratch notes/names etc. into the leaves and the writing stays on there.
