Fan Palm Pollinating Weevil

Derelomus sp.

Description:

Tiny yellow-brown, male weevil about 4 mm long. This is either D. chaemeropis or D. subcostatus

Habitat:

Porch light in the backyard. Originally from the Mediterranean, "an adventive sp. recently found in so. CA; 50-60 spp. worldwide" Believed to have been introduced from Palm Trees.

The male weevil's antennae are much closer to to the apex of the rostrum, like this one, they also have longer fore-legs. So this's a male weevil! Good photography of such a small creature, Cindy.

Yip, looks similar. Guess they get around :)
