Fungus of unusual size... Growing in shade of large oak trees.

Habitat:

In shade beneath large oak tree.

Notes:

About 24 inches in diameter...16 inches high...growth pattern looks almost like a rose in bloom.

If this is Sulfur Shelf, this is the first time I have seen it growing on the ground, instead of on the side of a tree. It is quite beautiful. If it is there later, I might try to harvest and preserve it.
