A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife

This female turtle was attempting to cross the road when she was hit by a passing car. I was able to stop and rescue her. I made sure to write down the names of the roads where she was found so she could be returned to her home if she recovered. She was kept in a quiet place until the next day when the rehab facility could take her. Fortunately, she survived her injuries and was returned to her home once she healed.
Suburban.
If you find a turtle in the road and it is safe to stop, please move it off the road in the direction it is facing (as long as it is not injured). Turtles have small home territories. If the turtle is injured, the best thing to do is to contact your local wildlife rehabilitator. It may be placed in a cardboard box with newspaper or a towel underneath. Don't try to feed it or treat the injuries yourself.
