Eastern Grey kangaroo (juveniles)

Description:

Two colour forms of the Eastern Grey Kangaroo. These two juveniles were on a collision course with oncoming traffic crossing the Glen Lyon Dam. Other 'roos in the group dispersed in the other direction. The brown/fawn and the soft grey colour are common colours, some also have a distinctive upper thigh white stripe with blended edges. Eastern Greys are the second largest marsupials. Rear hind legs are powerful and give the animals the recognised bounding or hopping movement, the tail is long and strong and aids in movement, the forelimbs are small, ears large, eyes large, snout tapered. The fur colour is darker above and lighter on underparts, tail often tipped black as are paws, muzzle and smudges around ears and eyes.

Habitat:

Found throughout eastern Australia crossing over in habitat range with the Western Grey. These ones found in mountain country near man made dam crossing the high concrete dam wall despite traffic.
