wasp nest

Description:

Nests found together. The cylindrical nest is home to small black wasps and is stuffed with dead prey items (e.g. spiders). The globular nest was very close to the cylindrical nest (pictured). There were other cylindrical nests nearby. I don't know if the different shaped nests represent different species.

Habitat:

Observed on the exterior wall of a house surrounded by a large semi-urban yard & garden, near to a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest, in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.
