Congratulations Arun, your Eurasian hoopoe is our Spotting of the Day:
"Well look at me! This Eurasian hoopoe (Upupa epops) with its crest raised is our Spotting of the Day. In hoopoes the crest is present in both sexes as well as in nestlings and fledglings. It is used to evaluate and communicate with other individuals in the species, and to deter predators. It may also play a role in parent-nestling communication".
