Description:

Toxic caterpillar of the Milkweed Tussock Moth, 2.5 cm long, black, orange and white tufts of spines and stinging hairs. The first picture shows the caterpillar finishing a leaf and the last picture shows what the caterpillar does to a leaf, leaving only the stems and veins uneaten. Family Erebidae, Subfamily: Arctiinae.

Habitat:

Heavy shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 11.5, 865 meters.
