Callitris rhomboidea
Growing up to about 10 metres these had great looking 'cones' plus an interesting mix of other 'flowery' looking parts. Bark had vertical thin strips (shallow textured). Young plants were appearing prolifically all around the area.
Lakeside in a state conservation park with very starved looking, yellow, hard soils made of crumbly sedimentary layers turned on edge.
Also called Oyster Bay Pine, Port Jackson Pine. Endemic to eastern and south-eastern Australia including Tasmania and parts of South Australia. I still want to understand the other 'flowery' looking parts... males, females, galls ???
