Eastern Amberwing

Perithemis tenera

Description:

The Eastern Amberwing is very small, reaching a total length of no more than 25 mm. The males have orange or amber wings. Both genders have a red pterostigma. The scientific name, tenera, means delicate and alludes to its small size.

Habitat:

Edge of a large pond near a deciduous forest. Cleveland Metroparks System, North Chagrin Reservation, Mayfield, Ohio Cuyahoga County USA.
