Pigeon

Columba livia

Description:

Pigeons have a bad reputation (flying rats), but they do good scavenging in cities and keep them cleaner than they might otherwise be. They also make crop-milk to feed their babies, which only a few other birds do.

Habitat:

Pigeons and doves are distributed everywhere on Earth, except for the driest areas of the Sahara Desert, Antarctica and its surrounding islands, and the high Arctic. They have colonised most of the world's oceanic islands, reaching eastern Polynesia and the Chatham Islands in the Pacific, Mauritius, the Seychelles and Réunion in the Indian Ocean, and the Azores in the Atlantic Ocean. (Wikipedia)

Notes:

Crop milk is a secretion from the lining of the crop of parent birds that is regurgitated to young birds. They are found among all pigeons and doves where they are referred to as pigeon milk. Crop milk is also produced by flamingos and some penguins. (Wikipedia)
