Unknown Beetle

Description:

Tiny metallic blue and orange beetle of 3 mm in length. It was covered in a fine layer of hair and was very compact and heavily sclerotized. It was able to make itself into an almost round ball.

Habitat:

Forest and secondary growth under the San Cristobal Bridge on the Highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 15, 1,500 meters.

genus formerly called Chlamys.
Genus ID indirect, based on similarity with sallaei (fig 23):
