European gypsy moth

Lymantria dispar dispar

Description:

I found this nice moth with long antennae on house's wall this morning. It's a male.

Habitat:

The Gypsy moth, Lymantria dispar, is indigenous to Europe, and was introduced in North America. Though the Asiatic and the Eurasian moths were not classified as different species in the 1980s, the differences were already notable.

Notes:

It's classified as a pest, and its larvae consume the leaves of over 300 species of trees, shrubs and plants. The gypsy moth is one of the most destructive pests of hardwood trees in the eastern United States.
