smooth red-brown ear-shaped mushroom. undersurface white with fine hairs and deep wrinkles.

Habitat:

on dead wood in Prospect Park Broolyn

Notes:

though typically fleshy these were dry.

The Chinese folk in my lab use this* in dishes. It's quite delicious.
*I should say they use something they call "wood ear".
