Eastern Firefly

Photinus pyralis

Description:

Fairly large Firefly. Black elytrae with yellow edging. Protonum pinkish-orange with a black spot in the center and yellow edge. Black head, eyes, and legs. Ventral abdominal segments six and seven have light organ in males. (per Bugguide).

Habitat:

Suburban yard.

Notes:

I love seeing these guys in early summer!
