Alfalfa

Medicago sativa

Description:

The leaves look similar to the Fenugreek (Methi) plant Trigonella foenum-graecum. Mauve flowers.

Habitat:

Weed growing scattered in Ule (Ladakh region).

Notes:

Initially I thought it was a gimmic on the part of Ule Ethnic Resort and we would be asked to harvest it and it would be served to us a herb with vegetables...but then I saw the flowers; it was not Fenugreek. There was another herb that bore yellow flowers and had similar leaves. Thank you, eulalia rubio for ID. I had never sen Alfalfa before but only read about it in school
