Ok, then I will add the info you gave me. Many thanks for the effort! :-)

I went through the species of both genuses, but I don't think I can help much more. There are few photographs of these plants online to compare yours with. To me, that makes your spotting a bit more exciting though!

Many thanks for looking into it, Machi. This genus indeed looks alike. I will wait for you in case you find more information, before I add this to the spotting :-)

So I found some promising things. It looks like a species of Geonoma or Calyptrogyne with the way it fruits. I have not found any with blue berries that is in either genus yet but I'll keep looking.

Thanks, Machi! It seems like some sort of palm but this is as far as I get for now :-)

I'm very curious to find out what this is! I googled a lot to find it with no luck.

No, I was there two and half days. I went to visit La Fortuna waterfall too :-)

Awesome, did you get to zipline? We did the side of the volcano over a beautiful waterfall

I think more or less 20 min drive from La fortuna, because the entrance is at the other side of the volcano slope. We went in a taxi cab and arrange for him to return to pick us up because there is no easy transport from La Fortuna, otherwise. Most people are either on a tour, with a rented car or by taxi.
And the volcan is still a few km far up from the hiking trails but there is one trail from which you can have very beautiful views, on one side the lake and on the other the volcan.

Marta how close is the park to the Arenal Volcano? My wife and I stayed at Arenal Green near LaFortuna a couple of years ago. Beautiful country
