Few-flower milkweed

Asclepias lanceolata

Description:

This perennial plant can be frequently found in marshes (fresh and brackish), low glades, and wet pine barrens. It prefers sandy and loamy soils that are well-drained, but can also survive in poorly drained swampy soils. The flowers are bisexual, having both male and female reproductive structures.

Habitat:

Jordan Lake woods

Notes:

It looks very much like butterfly milkweed but has fewer flowers.
