Coenonympha pamphilus
The Small Heath is a lateral basker, always resting with its wings closed and angled at 90° to the sun. The butterfly loosely resembles a small Meadow Brown, but the brown colour of the wings appears noticeably paler in flight. The wingspan is 24-30 mm.
Spotted at an evergreen oak and pine tree forest. Dehesa de Valdelatas.
