A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Speyeria idalia
On july 4th, my dad, my brother, my grandma and i went on a butterfly walk in ft. indiantown gap, PA. We saw many butterfly species, but the walk was mainly focused on regal fritillaries. This is a female. Females have 2 areas in which they differ from males. The females have 2 rows of cream-colored spots on the lower wings, whereas the male has one orange row and one cream-colored row. The female's wings also point upward, and the males point straight across.
