Southern Harebell

Campanula divaricata

Description:

This is a very beautiful but small and easily overlooked wildflower. The blossom is bell-shaped with the pistil extending like an over-long clapper. Campanula divaricata has many branches each bearing many small flowers (less than ½ inch) giving the appearance of a "splash of blue against the surrounding plants".

Habitat:

This native wildflower is found in the following SE US states: AL, CT, GA, KY, MD, NC, NH, SC, TN, VA, WV

Spotted near the overlook of Johns Mountain Wildlife Management Area
