Acer Saccharum
This tree has just started to change color for the fall season. The top of the tree must be more shaded then the bottom, because the slight temperature change from being in the shade makes the leaves near the top start to turn orange and red before the green leaves near the base of the tree. The trunk is slim, and spotted with soft think bark. It is a fairly young tree because it is only about 12 feet tall and not very thick.
Sugar Maples grow best in the northern part of the United States and into Canada. Temperate climates are ideal for Sugar Maples.
This tree caught my eye because of its beautiful color and the variations between the colors on the individual leaves. One leaf may have four different colors on it, making the tree look as if it were splatter painted.
