Bolbonota Treehopper

Description:

These tiny Treehoppers imitate Caterpillar droppings. They are only between 2 and 3 mm in length. This one might be Bolbonota pictipennis. The last picture is where I found it, in a group with 2 other species (another C-shaped Treehopper and a nymphal stink bug, all being attended by ants. The Bolbonota is the tiny black bump.

Habitat:

Heavy vegetation, km 11.5, Highway between Chiapa de Corzo and San Cristobal de Las Casas, 865 meters.
