Seven-spotted Lady Beetle

Coccinella septempunctata

Description:

This enormous Seven-spotted Lady Beetle appeared to have some sort of fungal infection on its head and protonum. Even though it was afflicted it was still happily chowing down on a big aphid. Last image shows the plant with the aphids and the lady beetle on the stem.

Habitat:

Vegetation bordering saltwater marsh. Gardiner County Park, NY.
