Asiatic Lion

Description:

The Asiatic Lion is a subspecies which exists as an isolated population in the Western state of India - Gujarat. These species represent a great conservation success story as their numbers have surged from less than a dozen individuals to over 500 in a century due to ceaseless efforts put in by local communities and authorities.

Habitat:

Dry deciduous forest

Notes:

Photographed these really cute young cubs at the Gir National Park, which is currently the only place in the world to see Asiatic Lions in the wild.
