Rieko, your male Purple Finch pictures are very nice. The other male finch in our area that this can be confused with is House Finch, which has more pronounced brown streaks on the side of the chest. The females are brown and have a bold white stripe over the eye.

My spotting is not good pictures, but is this male finch?
The entire body of this bird was in really deep Raspberry color.
