A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Terathopius ecaudatus
Very distinctive with red facial skin
Open woodland and veld
They mainly eat mammals, birds and reptiles but commonly scavenge carrion, which it is doing in this photo. We think it was eating the eye balls of the dead impala. Not sure what the cause of death was. We waited for ages and saw no predators so it might have died of natural causes.
