Click Beetle

Parallelostethus attenuatus

Description:

A large click beetle, approximately 1". Black head, red thorax, and black abdomen.

Habitat:

Found on a dead tree at our local burn pile. The area is surrounded by woodland habitat.

Notes:

I spotted one of these about 10 years ago, and haven't seen one since until yesterday. The cool thing was that I found it in the same spot as the other.
