Platycryptus undatus
A 1/4" jumping spider with a low profile. Very camouflaged, with hues of white, gray, and black. An orange band adorns the front of the face beneath the primary eyes.
This individual was found on cut oak sitting near our local burn pile.
This particular species seems much more stout and low profiled compared to other jumpers that I have seen. I love the orange band, and the tufts of hair around the eyes.

Thanks so much Marta! That is so kind of you and I always appreciate your comments. I think this is definitely one of my favorite jumpers that I have found.
You are showing us the coolest creatures, Bill
Beautiful spotting! :-)
Thank you Maria! I immediately noticed the low profile. Quite handy for getting under loose bark!
Cool spotting, Beaker - the low profile is very noticeable and interesting.
Definitely cute, Stephanie:) Thanks.
This guy almost looks cute in your photos:) Your second photo really demonstrates the great camouflage this spider has.
Thanks Dilan and Sunny! It's definitely the most stout jumper I've seen:)
