Madagascar Tree Boa

Boa manditra

Description:

Adults average 4–5 feet (122–152 cm) in length, although 6–7 foot (183–213 cm) specimens are not uncommon.

Habitat:

rainforest

Notes:

Though this species is arboreal, I nearly stepped on it while doing a night walk in Malio. I was buys looking for nocturnal lemurs and chameleons in the trees and wasn't really watching the road. All of a sudden I looked down and this huge snake was there! It moved at its own pace and didn't seem to mind me coming in close for a photo.
