Heliconius charithonia
Heliconius charithonia, the zebra longwing or zebra heliconian, is a species of butterfly belonging to the subfamily Heliconiinae, of the family Nymphalidae. Around 1:00 p.m. in the early afternoon, I looked out of the right front window, and I saw a zebra longwing butterfly, flying from purple flower to purple flower, feeding on the nectar from these purple flowers.
This species frequents tropical hammocks, moist forests, edges, or fields. The zebra longwing butterfly, lives in warm, damp, tropical areas. It is often found in hammocks and thickets.
I spotted this zebra longwing butterfly, feeding on these purple flowers, at 1:00 p.m. in the early afternoon, in my front yard.
