Common Evening Brown

Melanitis leda leda

Description:

Nymphalidae; Satyrinae; Melanitis leda leda Linnaeus, 1758. This beautiful Common Evening Brown flew into our terrace from the rice field, just as it became dark, probably attracted by the light. It is, no doubt "common" in terms of numbers, but it could never be considered common in regard to its appearance. It is absolutely exquisite!

Habitat:

Spotted on the ceiling of our terrace.
