Description:

Large shorebird with brown-gray plumage, lighter below, with a long, straight bill. Bold black and white wing pattern when in flight.

Habitat:

Shorelines, wetlands, potholes in the US Midwest and west.

Notes:

I photographed this bird at the helipad on the Dry Tortugas National Park. This place was a wonderful adventure and I'd encourage any one who visits Florida to visit this national park. A very, very cool place.
