Melanitis leda

Description:

It has two forms. Wet seasonal form is dull dark brown on upperside with two prominent eyespots surrounded by orange patches. Underside is grey with a series of white eyespots of varying sizes. Dry seasonal form is rich brown on upper side with dark spots and a narrow yellow band.Eyespots on underside is reduced and obsecure.

Habitat:

Jerky close to groundflight. Active at dusk and comes indoors attracted to light. Partial to tree sap & ripe fruit.
