Selasphorus calliope
The smallest bird in North America north of Mexico, the Calliope Hummingbird inhabits mountain areas of the northwestern United States. It is the smallest long-distance avian migrant in the world, spending its winters in Mexico.
This little hummingbird is way out of its normal range here in the northeast US. Normally they live in the western US and Canada, and winter in western Mexico.
