I spotted these strange looking seed pods in Eravikulam National Park. Maybe in the Leguminosae family?

Yes, Monkeymind had suggested that as an ID earlier in this thread. I think that's what it is. I will update it now. Do you know which species is in India?

The seeds do look very similar. Wiki states that Parsonsia is a woody vine. This is more of a tree. Do you think it could be the same? Thanks for your determination and dedication with the ID.

@ Ashish , Could this belong to the same species as Drum sticks? I love those . They are very tasty!
This here does not look like an edible variety.

Yes, it does. I overlooked Catalpa but according to Wiki, there are native to east Asia. It could be that.

hmm, if u ask me, it somehow looks like a Catalpa tree seed pod...

Jonathan, it does have similar looking seed pods to Apocynum. The pods are about 1 ' (30cm) long. This one is going to be tough to ID.

Joseph its look like a shrub. Dan spotted tree pods. Pods look like almost 2 feet long.

The date of picture showing fruit is in late winter. Means flowering in winter December January. That time I will check if it got in view but will need more 8 months..phew..!!

View to the Universe! I like that! Even if you can't get the species, just the genus will help too. Yeah, its too bad I don't have any more photos with identifying characteristics.
