Similar to a great egret, but smaller, and with black beak and wings.
Shallow waters of a beach on the Gulf of Mexico, combing the shallow waters for a meal.
Once plenteous in number, these birds were hunted to dangerously low levels in the early 1900s. Their plumes were prized as decorative adornments to women's hats.
