Lunar Mushroom

Mycena chlorophos

Description:

Tiny mushroom approx 2-3mm diameter of the cap. Emits faint glow visible during the night. A cluster of these would be very noticeable.

Habitat:

Rainforest. Usually found on rotting bamboo.

Notes:

The locals call these 'Cendawan Bulan' which in Malay means Lunar Mushroom.

Why does it glow? I mean: for what purpose? What is the function of lts light?
For example to attract insects that help spreading spores?

Hey Dive! Awesome mushroom! Just it makes me a litle suspisius when I see those cursive letters on the bottom. Maybee its just a problem whith my Ipad or your device, but if you saw this in apicture or movie, just deleatit before anyone suspects. So just reamember that here in PN we try to get spots of nature! But dont get me wrong. That pic is SUPERcool!!
