Lackey moth caterpillar

Malacosoma neustria

Description:

Although the caterpillar does not suggest it, the adult lackey moth is relatively dull in its colouration (light brown). The caterpillars are much more spectacular with their orange, blue, black and white stripes. On the head the lackey moth caterpillar has two eye spots, making it appear larger and less attractive to predators.
