Ardea herodias wardi
This was the skinniest of the three Herons? I saw. It also had the most white on the underside and neck. He seemed to lack the chin/neck feathers and coloring. He was also way back from the tips of "The Point" which I am assuming was a less desirable fishing vantage point. I'm thinking he was a juvenile perhaps because he kept looking at the big Heron? at the end of The Point.
"There are five subspecies: Ardea herodias wardi Ridgway, 1882. Kansas and Oklahoma to northern Florida. Sightings in southeastern Georgia have occurred." Wikipedia

Thanks Florida33girl and annorion for the thoughts and links. They are beautiful birds.
ya definitely got another heron here. the only reason that both sightings lead me to think great blue is because of size and in this pic ya can kind of make out white on his face. The tricolored, little blues, and reddish all have solid dark colored faces. But the great blue has a white face and dark crown.
Also a Great Blue Heron. Could be young, but they do vary in size.
