sounds accurate, mine said grey underparts, and the associate drawing showed a dark grey

Thanks! The description for the underparts in the Simpson and Day reads: "whitish to dull grey-brown below".

Slater Field Guide to Australian Birds, the drawings can be a bit off

Hi Aonach_Eagach! My field guide (Simpson and Day 6th edition ) shows a dirty white for the underparts.... Of all the swallows it seems to be the one matching best (head, crown and neck match very well). I used to often see them by the water in Adelaide or Melbourne. Out of curiousity which field guide are you using?

I was wondering if the underparts were grey or white in the photo, the field guide showed a much darker grey, but I'm going with your suggestion
