Acraea bonasia
Acraea bonasia, the Bonasia Acraea, is a butterfly in the Nymphalidae family.
Seen on bushes by the side of a dirt road running through the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, SW Uganda.
Acraea uvui is a member of the Acraea bonasia species group
Great link dominique, but very difficult to be sure 'cos one can't see enough on the wings. I don't think it's the first one though. Pity there is no open wing shot. Think I'll leave it as I've got it and see if anyone comments. Later I'll put it up on Africa's Virtual Museum and see if I can get a positive ID. Thanks...
I can't decide if it's the bonasia or the uvui. If you go to the section "◇bonasia" group on:
http://www.pteron-world.com/topics/class...
there are very subtle differences between the three sub-species. I think it may be an Orange-streak Acraea.
thanks dominique, that looks like the one. Couldn't find much info about it on the web!
