Maniola jurtina
At least I think it’s a Meadow Brown (correct me, if you think otherwise), belonging to the family of ‘Nymphalidae’ or in German ‘Großes Ochsenauge’ (Familie der Edelfalter / Nymphalidae). Regarding the wiki entry, I figure that this is probably a male (less colourful, smaller eyespots and less orange)

Thanks, Carol!
TOTALLY WOW! Congrats! Great photos! Amazing!
Thank you :-)!
The spotting just got the mission photo of the mission "Pannonian wildelife" for a while.
Bee eaters are a pain to catch :)
Good Luck!
I only have a small camera, just a bog-standard digital but I do okay with it. If I had a really good camera, I definitely wouldn't get any work done! I'm trying to snap bee eaters at the minute, which are at two of my jobs. No luck yet!
I need to get me a small good pocket camera again. That I would haul around.
Chances are too slim of seeing anything right now to justify hauling the DSLR around in 50C :P
I can imagine, in your job I would be constantly sidetracked :D
I know what you mean about it being too hot to bother, but as I have to work out in it anyway, I make sure I have my camera in a pocket when possible. I do see a lot of butterflies here in Portugal, but trying to get them to stay still long enough to photograph is difficult! They also distract me from my work far too often, along with other wildlife! :)
Sadly I don't get to see many here in Kuwait :-(
Saw a moth flyby yesterday, but didn't have my cam.
It's just too hot to bother,... :/
I never tire of butterflies either. :)
Thanks - I love seeing these critters :)
That picture is amazing! Fantastic spotting.
