The Ladyfern is the only species that matched my photo and memory thanks for the site.

Hi Joshua, this might be Common Ladyfern. Do you have any other photo's that may show the underside of the blades or shape of the pinnae? If not, you can search http://www.calflora.org to see if one looks like what you saw. In this case, you would select your county and check "Ferns and Relatives". If you know the habitat, you can narrow down the search further by selecting it but if not, just click on search.
