Description:

Busy in my garden yesterday on the buddliea - Widespread and obvious in Ohio. Brush - Foots (Nymphalidae) Longwing Butterflies (Heliconiinae) Wingspan: 7 to 9.7cm 3 to 3.8." Above: bright orange with heavy black lines and spots Below: Variable -Hindwing dark orange brown to brown with numerous metallic silver spots and a broad yellowish submarginal band. Sexes similar.

Habitat:

Open deciduous woodland, forest margins, roadsides, old fields, prairies and utility easements.
