Description:

body similar to a large fly, wings black speckled with gray dots. I've never seen a fly like this.

Habitat:

temperate forest

I spotted this at Baden Powell park on the edge of the city.

No problem! I'm not sure if it is the traditional house fruit fly though because there seem to be many different types of flies that are called fruit flies, but that was the only common name I could find for this particular kind.
